Back to "normal"

Dr. Grana called first thing Monday morning to let us know that Dante's AFP came back at 7.8 - normal is less than 7.9. Chris and I have decided to wait and watch the AFP for a while. If it fluctuates again, we will proceed with surgery to find out what is going on. If it stays normal, well, I think that's obvious.

In the meantime, Dante has had 2 days with no "yuckies", so perhaps the Zantac is kicking in. Hopefully, that means he will begin to feel better all around soon.

Chris is leaving for Connecticut for a long weekend so I am looking forward to having my hands full!

Thanks again for all the whirling dervishes out there and melted ice cream on Dante's behalf. It appears to be working so far!

A big YEAH and CONGRATS and all those other great celebration words! WE are so VERY HAPPY for you all-- we have read the blog lots of times and anxiously awaited all of the updates but, we are getting over a full house round of the flu--that we think went around twice--so until we are germ free please know that this is a big hug from the Nordquist Family--until we can come up the street to deliver one in person! I think of you all daily and check the blog regularly. I know that this has been very difficult for you all and with the added compliations I don't know how you have stayed so strong and focused. I am so happy for you all and will continue to check in.

About Me: On August 30, 2006, Dante was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Germ Cell Tumor. This means that he has a cancerous tumor in his pelvis that has metastasized to his chest, lungs, back and lymph nodes. When we first got to the hospital, not only were a bunch of strangers coming in to poke and prod Dante, but all sorts of equipment was beeping and adding to the confusion and terror. So, we started mimicking the sounds the machines made in a silly way to get Dante comfortable. He would make all the techs and nurses smile by making the silly sound the temperature and BP machine made. We taught him to take deep breaths whenever the oxygen sensor would beep, and Chris taught him to say "Fries are done!" whenever the IV would start beeping. Hence, the name of our story.
